PRESCRIBING INFORMATION

Indications:

  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD).
  • Peptic ulcer disease.
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Dosage:

  • Severe gastro-oesophageal reflux disease: 20 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks; thereafter, maintenance 10 or 20 mg daily depending on the response.
  • Active peptic ulcer disease: 20 mg daily for 4 – 8 weeks (duodenal ulcer) and 6 to 12 weeks (gastric ulcer).
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: 60 mg once daily, adjusted according to response; doses may be up to 120 mg daily, given in 2 divided doses.

Usage:

Rabestad 10 is administered orally. It is normally taken in the morning.

Known hypersensitive to any of the active substance or excipients.

Headache, diarrhoea, and skin rashes, pruritus, dizziness, somnolence, fatigue, constipation, nausea and vomiting, flatulence, abdominal pain, arthralgia and myalgia, urticaria, and dry mouth.

  • Symptomatic response to therapy with rabeprazole does not preclude the occult presence of gastric neoplasm.
  • An increased risk for developing certain infections (e.g., community-acquired pneumonia).
  • Pregnancy: Rabestad 10 should be used during pregnancy only when clearly needed. Lactation: a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or the drug.
  • Patients should refrain from driving or using machines.
