PRESCRIBING INFORMATION

Indications

  • Active gastric ulcer.
  • Esophagitis due to gastro-esophageal reflux disease.
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Dosage

  • Active gastric ulcer: One capsule once daily, for 4 weeks, therapy can be continued for another 2 to 4 weeks.
  • Esophagitis due to gastro-esophageal reflux disease: One capsule once daily, for 4 weeks, therapy can be continued for another 4 weeks.
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: 1 – 2 capsules once daily. Treatment duration depends on responses

Usage

  • Lansoprazole STELLA 30 mg should be taken orally before eating, and do not crush or chew capsule.
  • Known hypersensitivity to any of the active substance or excipients.
  • Pregnancy and lactation.
  • Children.

Common

  • Headache, vertigo;
  • Diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, dyspepsia;
  • Skin eruptions.

Less common:

  • Fatigue.
  • Using lanzoprazole in high doses and over long durations (> 1 year) may modestly increase the risk of hip, wrist and spine fracture.
  • Hypomagnesemia can occur because of using prolonged treatment or taking proton pump inhibitor with medications such as digoxin or drugs that may cause hypomagnesemia (e.g. diuretics).
  • Lansoprazole STELLA 30 mg should be used with caution in elderly. Dose reduction in patients with severe hepatic impairment should be considered.
  • Pregnancy: Lansoprazole STELLA 30 mg should be used during pregnancy only when clearly needed. Lactation: a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or the drug.
  • Patients should refrain from driving or using machines.
