Diclofenac STELLA Gel is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) and analgesic preparation designed for external application. Due to an aqueous-alcoholic base the gel exerts a soothing and cooling effect.

PRESCRIBING INFORMATION

Indications:

  • For the local symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation in: Trauma of the tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints, e.g. due to sprains, strains and bruises. Localised forms of soft tissue rheumatism. It is recommended that treatment be reviewed after 14 days.
  • Treatment of osteoarthritis of superficial joints such as the knee, therapy should be reviewed after 4 weeks.

Dosage:

Depending on the size of the affected site to be treated 2-4 g should be applied 3-4 times daily.

Usage:

Diclofenac STELLA Gel should be rubbed gently into the skin.

Hypersensitivity to diclofenac, acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or to any ingredient in the formulation.

  • Topical preparations containing diclofenac, such as plasters and gel, may cause application site reactions. Skin irritation or related cutaneous reactions. Contact dermatitis, rash, dry skin, or exfoliation (scaling). Abnormal reaction of the skin to light, usually a rash (photosensitivity).
  • Diclofenac STELLA Gel is applied to a relatively large area of skin and over a prolonged period, the possibility of systemic side effects cannot be completely excluded.
  • For external use only, contact with eyes or mucous membranes should be avoided.
  • After application, the hands should be washed unless they are the site being treated.
  • Should not be applied to open skin wounds, infected lesions, or exfoliative dermatitis.
  • Sensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, possible in patients without prior exposure to diclofenac. Use with caution in patients with the aspirin triad.
  • Avoid use in the third trimester and late in pregnancy. Extreme caution when use Diclofenac STELLA Gel in nursing women.
  • Diclofenac STELLA Gel is not recommended for use in children.
  • Patients should be aware of how they react to drug before driving or operating machinery.
