PRESCRIBING INFORMATION

Indications:

Emergency contraception within 120 hours after unprotected sexual intercourse.

Dosage:

1 tablet of Mifestad 10 can be used up to 120 hours after intercourse. The earlier you use it, the more effective the treatment is.

Usage:

Oral administration.

  • Known hypersensitivity to any of the active substance or excipients.
  • Pregnant women.
  • Chronic adrenal failure.
  • Severe uncontrolled asthma.
  • Renal or hepatic impairment.
  • Inherited porphyrias.

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea; cramping; Infection following abortion; uterine contractions, heavy bleeding at reproductive system.

  • Bleeding occurs in almost all cases. Prolonged vaginal bleeding may be heavy (an average of about 12 days or more). It is not in any way a proof of complete expulsion.
  • Emergency contraception is used only in case of emergency and it could not be replaced regular contraception.
  • Emergency contraception could not have the desired effect in all of cases (risk of an unwanted pregnancy).
  • Mifestad should not be repeated in one period.
  • It is not recommended to use mifepristone for patients with renal failure, hepatic failure and malnutrition.
  • Should be used with care in patients with less severe asthma or with chronic obstructive airways diseases, haemorrhagic or cardiovascular disease or associated risk factors, or anaemia; patients receiving anticoagulants; long-term corticosteroid treatment.
  • Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicinal product.
  • Avoid using mifepristone during breast-feeding.
  • Patients should not drive or operate machines if headache, dizziness and hypotension occur.
