Partamol-Cafein is fixed-combination of paracetamol and caffeine that is indicated for treatment of most painful and febrile conditions, for example, headache, including migraine, backache, toothache, rheumatic pain and dysmenorrhoea, and relief of the symptoms of colds, influenza and sore throat.

PRESCRIBING INFORMATION

Indications

  • For treatment of most painful and febrile conditions, for example, headache, including migraine, backache, toothache, rheumatic pain and dysmenorrhoea, and relief of the symptoms of colds, influenza and sore throat.

Dosage

  • Adults, elderly and children over 12 years: 1 or 2 tablets every 4 – 6 hours.
  • Do not exceed 8 tablets in 24 hours.

Usage

  • Partamol-Cafein is administered orally. The effervescent tablet is dissolved in a glass of water.

 

  • Hypersensitivity to paracetamol, caffeine orto  any of the other constituents.
  • Patients with know glucose – 6 – phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.
  • Haematological reactions including thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, and agranulocytosis;
  • Skin rashes and other hypersensitivity reactions. Insomnia, restlessness, nervousness, and mild delirium.
  • Partamol-Cafein is not recommended for children under 12 years.
  • Partamol-Cafein should be used with caution to:
    Impaired kidney or liver function, alcohol dependence.
    History of peptic ulcer.
    Porphyria, hyperthyroidism, hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias or other cardiovascular disease.
  • Excessive intake of caffeine (e.g. coffee, tea and some canned drinks) should be avoided while taking this product.
  • Patients should be advised to consult their doctor if their headaches become persistent.
  • Avoid talking other paracetamol-containing products concurrently.
  • The physicians need to warn the patients of the signs of serious skin reactions known as Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) or Lyell’s syndrome, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP).
  • Partamol-Cafein contains aspartame. Aspartame is a source of phenylalanine. It may be harmful if you have phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare genetic disorder in which phenylalanine builds up because the body cannot remove it properly.
  • Partamol-Cafein contains anhydrous sodium bicarbonate, anhydrous sodium carbonate, sodium benzoate, sodium saccharin; therefore, patients should have dietary sodium restriction.
  • Partamol-Cafein is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Use with caution in nursing women.
  • Patients should be aware of how they react to drug before driving or operating machinery.
