Adenosylcobalamin (dibencozide) and methylcobalamin are the primary forms of vitamin B12 in the human body, and are the metabolically active forms required for B12-dependent enzyme function. Dibencozide is the major form in cellular tissues.

PRESCRIBING INFORMATION

Indications

Adjunctive treatment for children with anorexia, malnutrition and poor growth, relapsed infection, postoperative gastrointestinal disorder, convalescence after serious illness, asthenia in old and elder patients.

Dosage

Adults and children: 3 – 6 sachets/day in divided doses 3 times daily.

Usage

Dibencozide STELLA is taken orally. Dissolve the granules in water and use immediately.

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
  • Allergic history to cobalamins (vitamin B12 and related substances).
  • Malignant tumor. Since vitamin B12 is related to the development of tissues with high growth rate, may be the risk to impulse the development of these tumors.
  • Patients with allergic status (asthma, eczema).
  • Pruritus, urticarial, eczema, cutaneous erythema, oedema, anaphylactic shock, Quincke oedema, acne.
  • Color of urine (modification).
  • Dibencozide is used safely for pregnant women.
  • Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency or glucose – galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine.
  • Effects of the drug on ability to drive and use machines are unknown.
